Digital Design City Workshop Florence 2007

This workshop is exploring the question of how digital technology can
improve livability in historic cities. It will result in proposals that
blend urban design and digital technology for the Oltarno neighborhood
in Florence, Italy. Work will be conducted in cooperation with the City
of Florence Planning Department and colleagues in Italy, including
Professor Giandomenico Amendola, urban sociologist from the University
of Florence.

Students will research cases charting how digital technology is being
applied in cities, particularly historic cities. The research will lead
to student projects for Oltrarno that can help the neighborhood maintain
its authenticity, improve the quality of life for residents, and achieve
economic vitality.
